Winters can be long, especially Canadian winters. Why not create a winter corner in your classroom filled with words/terms and engaging activities? The products in this resource will help you create a beautiful décor in your classroom and provide fun activities to your students at the same time. Students will be able to use the card games whenever they have free time, during indoor recess or as extra practice to reinforce their vocabulary skills. All products in this resource come in colour and B/W. This resource is suitable not only to customers within Ontario, but also outside of the province (within and outside of Canada).

⭐Curriculum expectations:

This resource, in alignment with both the French as a Second Language Curriculum (2013) and the Language Curriculum (2023) in Ontario – some school districts use both in tandem in the French Immersion programs, as the skills learned and applied are transferrable from one language to another –, focuses on the following:

Students will:

       ✔️ use classroom anchor charts and word lists

✔️ communicate by using knowledge of vocabulary

✔️ learn to understand and apply syntax and sentence structure in order to communicate effectively

✔️ develop their spelling skills

Content (two files in a zip file):

✏️ Word wall/Flash cards (50 words/terms – some (7) are repetitive in order to offer synonyms or distinguish between Canadian and Parisian French)

This file includes words for a word wall (horizontal setting) as well as the same words (on cards – vertical setting) to be used in a center activity (with a mental ring – optional) or as a memory game with identical cards (when printing out the cards twice).

✏️ Memory game (matching an image to a corresponding word)

This file includes two sets of cards (with the same words/terms as the word wall set) – one set has the images and the other the corresponding words.

Bonus:

• Both files include pages that are to be used as the back of the cards (it is especially recommended for the second file in order to distinguish between the cards with images and the cards with words. You can print out manually the double-sided cards.
• Includes a word list (French/English)
• Rules for the games are included.
