Random Act of Kindness Reflection
Living in a foreign country where small acts of kindness were not part of daily life, I decided to change the culture in my classroom and my school. I created weekly kindness challenges and we would have to complete it as many times as possible during the week. Then I would do this activity my students, every week, when we came back from the weekend.
Usually on Mondays, I would have this reflection on their desks and after about 5-8 minutes, we would put them all in a box and then redistribute and read aloud the reflection we received. If a students was not able to complete an act of kindness, it was ok! The important is that we tried.
Being able to reflect upon how we showed kindness (by opening the door for someone, telling a friend you appreciate them, calling your parents to say hello, helping your
teacher carry book to her next class, help a friend clean up after snack, etc) my students were always more motivated to do it again. I truly loved this activity and would recommend it to everyone!
