⭐How to use this resource?

  • Each document has before, while and after viewing sections.
  • The before viewing section may be done and discussed together. The while and after viewing activities should be done individually, but you can choose to assign these activities as pair or group work.
  • After watching the movie or documentary, you can have students compare their notes, discuss them in small teams or as a whole class.
  • If you are planning on evaluating students’ work, then, you can simply collect the worksheets and grade them.

Please, be advised that there is no assessment grid included. However, here are some guidelines for assessing students’ answers:

  • Comprehension questions: expected answers should accurately cover the following aspects: main events, character information, message of the movie/documentary.
  • Analysis questions: expected answers should contain students’ point of view justified with arguments and concrete examples from the movie/documentary.
  • Opinion questions: expected answers will be the students' personal point of view and all well-developed and well-supported answers judged pertinent should be accepted.

This resource is ideal for grades 8-12; however, it could be useful for students below these grades levels. Check out the preview document to be sure that the document is appropriate for your students.

The teaching duration may vary, but you should count at least 2 hours for watching the movie (maybe less if it is a documentary), then, you should also allot time for taking notes and completing the final written production.
