Les intelligences multiples | Compréhension écrite
Great back-to-school activity for students in the upper elementary grades or high school - (French immersion). This activity can also be used at any time of the year; however, the resource gives educators the opportunity to get to know their students’ strengths and multiple intelligences from the first week/month of school. The resource will also enable students to not only learn about some of the characteristics of each multiple intelligence (Gardner, 1983), but also to recognize and focus on their strengths and intelligences, hence boosting their self-confidence. The resource presents the multiples intelligences in a reading comprehension format via short texts, followed by two activities to test their comprehension. At the end, students will be invited to decorate a sheet by writing about their intelligences and illustrating them. This latter will serve as a great way for you to decorate a bulletin board to showcase all the wonderful strengths represented in your class. Parents would love to see this too!
⭐ This product promotes the following competences in children aged 10 to 18:

How to use this product?
It is recommended to use this resource at the beginning of the school year to promote self-awareness and build confidence in students (however, it can also be used at any time of the year). It can be embedded into a literacy block where each intelligence is introduced to students. Before reading together the characteristics of each intelligence, students can make predictions about what a particular intelligence means. It can be done by focusing on the word(s) itself. For example, talking about the ‘intelligence visuo-spatiale’, students can think about what ‘visuo’ (visuel) and ‘spatial’ mean. This way, they will discover using their prior knowledge and before reading the material what the text will talk about.
The reading comprehension and written expression part can be completed in one block (approx. 100 minutes), depending on your students’ level, or spread out over 2 or 3 days. The poster part (self-expression) will take an additional block or more, or it can also be completed over a couple of days.
