FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES & CAPITALS QUIZZES
FSL / FLE FRENCH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES LES PAYS FRANCOPHONES LA FRANCOPHONIE BEGINNER FRENCH INTERMEDIATE FRENCH FOUR MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUIZZES WITH CONTINENTS, COUNTRIES, CAPITALS AND FLAGS REFERENCE LIST
Perfect for exploring the French-speaking world and ideal for cross-curricular learning with French and geography in French class, featuring countries / territories where French is an official language, or widely-spoken. The multiple-choice quizzes are suitable for a range of grades, at any time of the school year. Students can develop their knowledge of the geography and scope of La Francophonie in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. At the same time, students are developing their French language skills: speaking, listening and reading in particular, as well as broadening their French vocabulary.
The quizzes work well as a whole-group team quiz or as a pair / small-group activity, and the individual questions make great French bell ringers too. Revisit regularly to maximise the learning potential. The set includes a complete reference list featuring all the continents, countries, capital cities and national flags. Students should read this through carefully before playing, and it's really useful as a long-term reference resource too.
There are four quiz challenges:
= Challenge 1 gives the country as a prompt, with four possible capital cities to choose from (40 questions).
= Challenge 2 gives the capital city as a prompt, with four possible countries to choose from (40 questions).
= Challenge 3 asks the question Vrai ou faux ? La capitale de... est... Where the answer is faux, students should give the correct response.
= Challenge 4 asks the question Vrai ou faux ? ... est la capitale de.... Where the answer is faux, students should give the correct response.
The card numbers for Challenges 1 & 3 are in the top right-hand corner; Challenges 2 & 4 in the top left-hand corner so that the cards can be organised and sorted easily. Laminate the cards if possible as they’re easier to manipulate, and remain in excellent condition for years.
Before playing, it's useful to show students a world map, so that they can visualise the location of each country and capital city, not only as an individual location within the range of continents where French is the official language, but also as a location in relation to other French-speaking countries and capital cities. This definitely helps students understand and memorise the geography of La Francophonie.
