Guided writing workbook - Writing journals on the topics of choices and society/community. Planning/brainstorming phase included, and it contains guiding questions and prompts to support learners while completing the writing journals (tool for differentiated instruction). This workbook contains a selection of 15 writing prompts, a peer assessment sheet, an error correction code sheet, and a revising and correcting strategies sheet.
UPDATE 2021: New fonts, slightly updated design
⭐What is included?
- “How to use this workbook?” sheet (read it before printing the workbook)
- My Writing Journal Workbook - 25 writing prompts
- Peer-Assessment Sheet
- Editing and Revising Strategies Guide
- Extra writing sheets for longer texts
The questions are ideal for both the beginning of the school year or all year round. The number of words to write is not given as it depends on how long you want your students to write and what your learners’ proficiency level is. I usually assign 150-200 words for a 50-minute-long writing session, but I do not ask for a final copy.
These writing prompts can also be used as emergency substitute activities.
⭐Best uses:
- As prompts to practice writing
- Time-filler activities
- Homework
- Extra work
- Emergency sub plan
Please note that this product is better suited for 8-11 grade ESL students; however, it might also be appropriate for learners below or above these grade levels. Please check out the preview document.
