Reflective Journals for Teens 1 (Problem solving)
PACK 1: Reflective writing journals with visual support (differentiation) to develop empathy, social, critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution skills. They also help teenagers to make wise decisions in conflict situations and be more prepared for facing and dealing with some of the social issues present in their lives.
Update July 2019: Some of the questions have been changed.
⭐There are ten journals in this document and each of them:
- presents the issue/conflict situation
- requires students to describe the situation or imagine a possible one based on the picture
- requires learners to brainstorm and personally connect to the situation
- provides a writing prompt that makes teenagers reflect on the issue.
⭐These reflective writing journals are ideal for:
- Morning work (You may not have time to use the extra sheet provided for longer texts, learners will write only a short paragraph instead).
- Extra work for early finishers
- 15-minute time fillers at the end of the class
- Extension activities when teaching a unit or lesson that relates to one of the issues featured in this document.
- Emergency sub plans
⭐In zip the file, you will find:
- Reflective journals in PDF format
- "Read it first" document that also contains an editable template if you wish to add your own ideas and questions in Power Point.
⭐This differentiated resource is ideal for ESL and/or Special Education learners because each journal features an image of the conflict situation as visual support to enhance understanding.
