The posters feature 41 countries / territories where French is an official language, as well as regions and territories where a significant number of the population speak French as either their first or second language, such as Viet Nam. Each poster shows the continent, country, capital city and national flag.

There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, and the posters help them develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Les pays francophones - students are often genuinely amazed at the scope of the French-speaking world. The posters feature the definite article, and this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too. Use the posters as speaking prompts with quick questions such as Vrai ou faux ? Québec est la capitale du Canada ? or Libreville est la capitale de quel pays ? - these work really well encouraging students to speak in French, particularly those who find speaking quite challenging.

The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or plain without frame, to keep prep costs to a minimum. Print on card stock and / or laminate if possible, as they display more effectively, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and remain in excellent condition for years.
